The above visual is a solid representation of how a person’s knowledge and skill can begin and progress throughout time. This pyramid indicates certain areas that are prime points for growing the game of golf. The levels from 0-2, where people know little to nothing about golf, and the opportunity to learn does not have to be done on a golf course, is an excellent area that can be targeted to grow the game of golf. This could be college students, women, entrepreneurs, small and large scale team building events and much, much more.
This beginning level of introduction to golf creates the opportunity for learning so much more than “just golf”. Golf is a medium that can easily be translated into teaching many skills such as; leadership, self-confidence, self-control, patience, goal setting and communication, just to name a few.
My passion for golf lies in this. The ability to take a sport and translate it into so many aspects of life that contribute positively to society. Steve Jobs once said, “Have the courage to follow your heart and intuition. They somehow already know what you truly want to become.”
