When I talk about the game of golf as a lifestyle, I am referencing the intrinsic aspects that can be gained and not the extrinsic, or material, things. Golf is a great medium to teach self-discipline, self-regulation, respect (for yourself, others, rules, traditions), morals, character, values and many other valuable skills.
The key to this? Being coachable. This means being ready and willing to learn from those around you and the experiences/opportunities you have.
Learning these character traits through golf gives you the opportunity to learn and grow in a fun, interactive environment. You are learning the skills through application in the game of golf, however, the concepts transfer to every area of your life. This understanding and ability allows you to empower yourself and others. This can help you to make better decisions in your life, improve your foresight and understand the consequences of your actions. All of this leads to skills that transform you into a strong leader. Someone who has the knowledge, skills and mindset to lead others through the process they themselves have gone through and continue to the cycle of helping others expand their horizons through the game of golf.
